Things got really weird when the Cubs and Diamondbacks had a rain delay
There’s only so much you can do during a rain delay in baseball. You came prepared to play a game, not sit around and do nothing while water falls from the skies. But rain delays are a part of life, and you have to make the most of it when you’re part of one.
Carlos Rodon Limited Jersey That’s exactly what the Cubs and Diamondbacks did Thursday during an extended break in the action. Members of each team’s bullpen decided to outdo the other with odd stunts, such as fishing for humans and using people as bowling pins.
Jonathan Ericsson Limited Jersey Thoughts: Gonzalez had been the No. 1 overall pick in the 2001 draft, and he was making progress through the minors, though not as quickly as the Marlins had hoped. At the time of the trade, he was hitting just .216 with one homer in 37 games at Triple-A. Guess he just needed time. Gonzalez is a five-time All-Star with 309 homers in his career. Snare pitched just one game in the majors, and Smith never made it past Triple-A.
The Marlins don’t win the World Series without Urbina as the closer. He wasn’t perfect, but he was good enough 鈥?including two perfect innings after the infamous Bartman moment against the Cubs at Wrigley Field in Game 6 of the NLCS.
Thoughts: Not much on either side of the aisle here. Neither Fabregas nor Liriano made much of an impact in the majors after the deal, and Raburn never made the bigs. Fasano had one at-bat for the Angels. Ochoa hit .277 in the regular season, and struck out three times in five postseason at-bats (though he did score two runs).
